Put Your Dukes Up....

READ this post first. So you know what the hell I am talking about. Okay?

I totally burned leaves last night. 14 piles of them. So did my "other" Neighbor. We'll call him "Neighbor X." Neighbor X was burning when I got home, which was totally ironic, so I thought what the hell, might as well all burn at once and get it over with. And while neighbor X was burning, guess who was outside chatting with him, in the smoke from his leaf pile? Yep. None other than "mom" who is supposedly ALLERGIC to leaves and whom I made sick for DAYS after I burned leaves a few weeks ago. And she is STANDING outSIDE in the SMOKE?!

And her kid showed up over at my house wielding a rake. He commented that his mom would be "mad that he was over here cuz he will smell like smoke" and I wanted to say, well than GO HOME! Finally when the wind shifted a bit and the smoke curled more in the direction of the "mom"s house. Son was trying to rake the pile as if it would prevent the smoke from going that direction.

Son said "You'd better watch out for my mom"

and I thought Oh christ. Don't TELL me who to watch out for. She'd better watch out for ME. Because I know my rights and I was here first and I am NOT going to put up with this crap.

So I said (finally, after biting my tongue through all his previous comments.) "Burning leaves is not illegal. I am doing nothing wrong. There is no burn ordinance here."

and son replied with "there isn't? Well when we used to live in State W (just north of here), there was a law that said you couldn't burn leaves."

and I said "not here. There isn't even a law that says WHEN you can burn them. the only law here is that you Can't burn garbage."

Son "You can't burn garbage? Really? I didn't know that!"

Me (thinking to myself....) REALLY ?! Is that why you burn your fucking garbage in your burn barrel all the time even though it is AGAINST the LAW in Town? Hmmmm.... Who's in the wrong now? Huh?

Sandals

I am in a good mood today. I got to wear my new sandals for the first time this year, even if it is only from home to work, during lunch break, and from work to home. Work has a whole "pantyhose or socks" rule and therefore I can't wear sandals that have a "toe thing" like flip flops or the ones that I wore today. It sucks.

I am a true sandal person. I love sandals. I have pretty feet and I love toe rings and I have so much nail polish it looks like a salon at my house. I love pedicures. I love to be barefoot. I probably have 20 pair of sandals. At least. And that's not counting dressy sandals. But I can't wear them to work. But I can wear them in the garden, and fishing, and camping, and pretty much anywhere else. For some reason, every pair of sandals means something. I can distinctly remember doing SOMETHING when I wore those sandals.

My Star Spangled Old Navy Flip Flops, for example. I wore those in theWyanet parade last year when I walked for work. The asphalt was sticky and my flip flops kept getting stuck to the road, it was hot that day. There is still asphalt stuck to the bottoms. I wore them during the big hail storm last summer. My pink striped sandals (I call them fruit strip like the fruit stripe gum) I wore camping and fishing and to the beer gardens. They are from old navy and are probably three years old this year. I love them. I am wearing the stripes off, just like I am wearing the stars out of my star-spangled flip flops.

I have Turquoise sandals that I wore when I got married and Turquoise Sketchers sandals that I wore when walking around Vancouver. I have white platform flip flops that I bought on the beach in Panama City Beach while on vacation, cuz they looked so great with my french tip pedicure and my white capri pants, and with my black and white swimsuit. I wore them again on the flight to Vancouver, for our wedding, and I remember taking them off at airport security. My friend Lisa taught me that white flip flops come sparkling clean if you scrub them with an old toothbrush and toothpaste. For real.

I have leather sandals that I bought when my sister and I went shopping. I have pink flip flops with flowers that mom bought me and I wore for my bridal shower at Mom's, and a pair of turquoise flip flops with cool "turquoise discs" on them that I wore to my other bridal shower.

The sandal population just grows and grows.

Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily

Okay, so things are about to get mildly snarky. Stay tuned.

I have neighbors. Everyone has neighbors. Even people in the country have neighbors, they are just blessedly farther away.

I suppose that every person has had at least one instance of eye-rolling at their neighbors. All in all, my neighbors could be worse. I only have one neighbor whose property actually touches mine. And they are some hum-diddily-dingers. Our previous neighbors were older. They were polite, they said hello and they waved, and they asked how we were and they commented and chatted. On warm summer evenings we might have a conversation at the clothesline or exchange tomatoes. Their grandkids would come over to see our dogs. It was fine. They both passed away, and sold their house.

We got new neighbors. As soon as I saw the new neighbors, I was worried. When I first saw "mom" she had on a white tank top that was too small, the kind with a built in bra. And she is not the kind of lady to rely on a built in bra for support, if you know what I mean. She had more "side boobs" than that trucker bitch you see at the local truck stop. (yes, family guy reference all the way- Click Here to Watch FCC-Peter's Side Boob Hour)And she had on SHORT shorts. Shorter than I would wear when I was 30 pounds lighter and 6 years younger than I am now, which would be about 60 pounds lighter and 15 years younger than she is now. Camel Toe and Cellulite- Side boobs galore. Let's just let it all hang out!

The first and only thing she ever said to me, was a story about wiping your ass with a corn cob. Um. Yeah. I was impressed. And that was all she ever said to me. Ever. In 2 years. She has two kids, both in high school now. One is incredibly friendly, wants to help you with everything, wants to talk for hours. The other is kinda doing her own thing, out in the yard playing volleyball, playing basketball, practicing cheerleading although I don't think she is a cheerleader. They are nice kids. Then there is "mom's" boyfriend, who is a nice guy, kinda quiet, lives there at least part of the time. He always says hello.

"Mom" herself works an off shift. That means the kids are on their own alot, taking care of things for themselves.

The thing I have noticed about mom? Well, she seems bitchy. Ladies... you know what I mean. Only a woman can claim to know that another woman is a bitch even though they have never had a conversation with her (or in this case one scary conversation.)

She is the mom, who from inside the house, screeches and screams at her kids, her dog, and pretty much the whole damn neighborhood through the doors and open windows. She is the one who stands with her head out the screen door screeching their names and it's "rake this" or "carry that" or "get in here." I can be pretty sure that she only comes outside to go to work and leave work, or to let the dog out when no one else is home to do it, or to occasionally hang clothes on the line or make a trip to the garage. She doesn't work in the yard. She doesn't sit outside with her family or go near the grill. She doesn't shovel the walk or rake the leaves. I don't see her coming in with groceries. I can't see into her house but I can pretty much tell you that my visualization of her brings images of bon bons, fuzzy slippers, and TV remotes.

In the spring and summer I spend HOURS in the yard with and without my husband. I rake. I weed. I plant. I water. granted not everyone likes to garden. That's fine. but what I found hilarious was the time when her daughter graduated. She bought flats of marigolds and other plants. She spent an ENTIRE DAY planting a little strip of flowers alongside her little garage and when she got tired of the hard work she sat the flats of plants alongside the building and left them there so that it looked like they were planted but they were really just flats of flowers sitting on the ground. I remember watching her lug around a bag of potting soil and watching her dump in over the flowers. It took her forever to get the bag open and even longer to dump it and she looked like that was the dirtiest she had ever gotten in her life. And this woman is not some thin, hot, attractive looking lady. Quite the opposite. The kicker was that instead of bags of top soil, she was putting potting soil (you know, with perlite, used for potted plants) out on the ground. On purpose. It was a riot. I couldn't help snickering as I watched her tiptoe around the dirt and look incredibly uncomfortable while working in the yard.

She is the epitomy of "good thing I had children because now I have slaves."

And the best part of it all are the little bits of info that we hear from the kids. The things that kids say. Like when my husband and I were out raking the yard this weekend. We thatched and rolled the yard and had lots of dead grass. We also had some leaves left over that didn't burn the last time around. Husband raked out the ditch again today so we can burn the remaining leaves and grass. Now I am not a huge fan of burning. Because I know that some people, especially those with respiratory problems, are affected by it. Our town has NO burn ordinances. When I burn I first look around to see that all my neighbors windows are closed and their clothes aren't on the line. Several times I have not burned specifically for those reasons. I also like to burn later at night instead of ruining a beautiful day with rolling smoke. But this can't always be done. The weekend that we raked last, a few weeks ago, was cool and calm. It was time to burn. Everyone's windows were shut. Too cold for clothes on the line. I burned the leaves and the fires were completely out in less than 30 minutes. "mom" was nowhere to be seen, as usual, and daughter was outside. She saw me raking, and burning.

So today, when husband was raking.... the neighbor kid mentions to him that his "mom is allergic to leaves" and that "whoever burned them last made her REALLY sick."

Okay. WHY did that piss me off so much?

Let me see.... reasons.

1. She was holed up in her house I suppose. I wasn't sure she was even home. Her windows were shut. I burned for less than 30 minutes. There was no residual smoldering.

2. I try to be as careful and considerate as I can about burning.

3. They have TWICE burned trash in their burning barrel when my clothes are on the line, when I have waited an entire DAY to burn because they leave their clothes on the line OVERNIGHT. The day after they burned their garbage with my clothes on the line, I burned cardboard in my burn barrel with their windows open. (payback's a bitch, eh?) Son was outside and mom was inside and instead of shutting her own windows, mom screamed OUT the open windows at son to come INSIDE and shut them for her. Um. Yeah. Lazy. Ass. Hello!?

4. You know damn well she was in the house bitching about me burning the leaves. Popping Bon Bons and Bitching.

5. They all know damn well that it was ME burning because they SAW me and then they had to say "whoever" to my husband like they are all innocent and don't know who the fuck it was.

6. It is not against the law to burn leaves here. If she were allergic, she could have walked up to me while I was raking (of course that would mean WALKING and venturing OUTSIDE, a DEADLY combo for her) and said something like "I was wondering if you would consider burning the leaves at XX'o clock, after I go to work (groceries, wherever I go) because I am allergic and the smell makes me really sick. I am sorry to ask this but it would be a huge favor to me and I would be grateful." How about that eh? HOW ABOUT YOU BE A GOD DAMN NEIGHBOR?!~

So that's my story. You can't please everyone. And you can bet your god damned ass that my husband will be burning those leaves. Today there was at least one other neighbor burning leaves. Husband pointed out that even if we Don't burn, someone will. How can you possibly know which neighbors are allergic? Especially if they don't TELL you they are allergic but bitch about it after the fact.

Burn Baby Burn.

35 new pics

35 new photos added to the "Evan and Meagan" photo album. Most of these are from High School and College, for the first 4 years we were together before we moved into Wyanet. Probably haven't seen any of these. Some of them I haven't even seen in years. I got them out of photo albums in the attic. Now back to my regularly scheduled dishes and laundry....

Damn Government/WeatherMan/Belts/etc.

So last night was again Taco Thursday at 6&34 for husband and I. I love tacos.

I am very glad today is Friday, and it's casual Friday at work. So I get to wear jeans. But with 14 pounds lost, mine are loose enough that I am always pulling them up but not loose enough to go buy a smaller size. So I try wearing a belt, which is great when standing, but when sitting it is totally digging into my upper belly, and I hate belts for that reason. Damn belts.

This weekend I need to get a new tire on my car and get the damn thing aligned. great. There goes my measley tax return eh? Besides that I will probably just be around home. Husband talked about working in the yard if it is nice, and now I see "blustery" and "rain" in the forecast. Of course. Beautiful during the week, 65 degrees, and then rain all weekend. Go figure.

I really have nothing to say these days. Can I be OUT of things to say? No freaking way. 27 years of blabber mouthing and then one day I just dry up? It's not possible!

Maybe I will try again later.

The Crack Whore Avatar. Coming Soon!

Avatars piss me off. Not all avatars. I think the idea of an avatar is a great one. The fact that you can make your own is awesome. But when it comes to avatars like on yahoo, where you make one that looks like you (or don't, whatever... it's your choice.) all the avatars are skinny with cute hair and platform shoes. It's like the bratz dolls have taken over the world. How many people have heads that make them look like lollipops on a stick? (besides the olsen twins, lindsay lohan, and the "new" christina ricci, or Britney Murphy.) Same problem with Sims. You can't make a fat Sim. The only place I have ever been able to make a semi-successful representation of my roly-poly self (long skinny legs and long arms on a round body, much like the apple on the fruit of the loom commercials) is on LL Bean's simulator to try on clothing. And I don't think they even HAVE that anymore.

So how abouts we get ourselves some fat ass avatars out there. Or at least some that aren't picture perfect superhero/bratz/barbie/raver looking things. (as I say this and I use Wonderwoman {a superhero with a fabulous figure} as my avatar and as my blog's namesake...oh the irony of my bitching...) But even though I may not look like Wonder Woman at all, I FEEL like here and so I identify. And she represents me. As my avatar.

But my yahoo chick? I totally don't identify with her body, except that I feel cute sometimes. And I get told I am cute alot. Not beautiful. Just cute. but I am okay with that. But seriously, why do all avatars have to look like 16 year old virgins trying to look naughty and spouting out words like "kewl" and "pleaze" and snapping their gum with their eyes rimmed in eyeliner and their bangs in their eyes. And all the guy avatars look like little emo punk rockers. WTF?

How long can one look hang on? When I was 16, and that was 10 years ago, I dyed my hair red and had my nose pierced and wore a belt made of a seat belt and a terry cloth polo shirt from the Salvation Army and had a metal pac man lunchbox for a purse. I had 5 pair of converse. I had funky rings and care bear shoelaces. When will this phase go away? Instead of getting new trends they just keep renaming the same ones. Ohhh.... Now it's called EMO so it must be NEW! You know a look has sold out when they put a Hot Topic store in the mall in cornfield, illinois so kids can buy a punk rock wardrobe that looks just like all their little friends, and when green day stops dressing that way because all the teeny boppers make it look ridiculous. I love it when a kid with black hair and eyeliner walks by me at the mall and gives me the "I'm so punk rock and you're so 1996" look and I want to say "I had my nose pierced when you were in kindergarden bitch! Get your own fucking trend!"

How is a person nearing 30 supposed to get a cool avatar? Make your own. That's all there is to it.

But on the flip side, where are the courtney love crack whore trailer park avatars? Think of all those nasty bitches out there who need a crack whore avatar and they are all walkin about the internet looking like a bratz doll. That's mis-representation I tell you. It could get some seriously scary relationships going.

And for all you mommy bloggers out there, where's the avatar with the drooling tot on one hip and the 4 year old clinging to her other leg. You know the one with the oversized t-shirt, hair in a ponytail, sweatpants and slippers?

And where is the avatar for that husband on the couch? The one with the remote in one hand and the beer in the other? The one who can't see or hear his own kids screaming as the mommy avatar pries them off her legs so she can take a piss?

We need an avatar overhaul.

Check this out... Why Are Yahoo Avatars So Skinny?
Guess I am not the only one wondering this.

Off the Wagon

Today at lunch, I had what will go down in history as the Worst South Beach Cheat Ever. Ugh. And it was so yummy. But very bad. I did physical activity/work all afternoon so I hope that helped balance it out.

Firstly, my weakness is Macaroni and Cheese triangles. Mmmm... Golden deep fried goodness. And this is the FIRST time they have had them since I started South Beach over a month ago. And I Had to Have Them! And then I had a sausage and pepper calzone made of the whitest white pizza dough you can ever imagine. It was delicious and it was bad.

The second biggest cheat in the history of south beach? Opening that box of frozen Peanut Butter Patties (girl scouts, good cause, etc) to "just have two" and then, 14 cookies later, realizing that it was a bad idea to even open them.

Is anyone else singing L7 "Off the Wagon" now? No? Just Me? Mmmmkay then...

Tonight.... Back on the wagon!

Look Where I am Today?

Kinda Scary. Kinda Flattering.

Bicycles and the History of Oral Sex.

Ahhh Wednesday. I can’t remember last time I had this little to say. I know I should be blogging but my brain is blank. I don’t mean that I am like a zombie. I am still working and getting things done, and I paid bills and balanced the checkbook, and I had a Computer User Group meeting last night. But I just can’t think of anything to rant about (that must mean I am a little more stress free) and I don’t really have any deep thoughts. Although I had an interesting one last night.

Who do you think was the first person to think up oral sex? For real. I m not trying to be dirty here. I am just being honest. Who was the first person out there who said “hmmm… what if I just like right there… what would happen?” It makes me wonder. And WHEN did this happen? I mean are we talking like a caveman or we talking like the 1800’s? I never thought to ask my great grandma if Oral sex was around when she was young. It just didn’t seem like the appropriate question to ask your great grandma, you know? So today my quest is to google “the history of oral sex” so I can have some answers.

What will YOU learn today? LOL.

I just recently finished reading Nicholas Sparks “At first Sight” and I started reading it the night Anya was in labor. I had no idea what the book was about and at the time I didn’t even know that the book was a sequel to “True Believer” which I had read in one 4 hour sitting the week before. I was also unaware that the book was about the pregnancy and childbirth of the happy couple, and when I got to the “end” it was 3am, Anya was in labor at the hospital, and I freaked out. I told Evan “take this book away from me I can’t believe what just happened.” And then I had nightmares the whole rest of the night and wanted to call Anya every hour for the next day until she had her baby. Note to others, this is a good book but I don’t suggest it as reading if you are pregnant, or if you have someone you care about who is pregnant or delivering a baby. Bad bad timing to read that book. There should be a warning. I just jumped into reading it last Tuesday night and again I read for 4.5 hours until 3am when I got to the end and had to put it down. I have to say that was the first N. Sparks book that I have never cried during. I was too shocked.

What else is new. Well, I saw the newest Longaberger catalog last night, and the newest two flyers (monthly specials) and I covet. Oh it’s terrible. Baskets of any kind are an addiction. I love their new bicycle basket and I wish that I was a bike rider. I have a bike in the garage that I haven’t ridden in 6 years. What a waste.

So maybe I should ride my bike? Nah. It’s not like when I used to live in the country and you could ride your bike for miles and never see anyone else and just take in the nature. I don’t want to ride my bike in town. I’d rather walk. Then I can take the dogs.
