Designer Babyhawk and Boyd'sTumor

Okay, I know that I SAID I was going to bed. But then I thought of a couple more things I forgot to mention. The first is that I ordered my custom made Babyhawk Mei Tai Baby Carrier. Yep. And it was EXPENSIVE. I made it reversible, with two pockets and a toy ring. I am attaching a photo of the fabric swatches. It has espresso colored straps and reverses to the two fabric patterns you see here. I can't WAIT to get it, but since they have to custom make it, it will take a little longer. Is it wrong that I will now have 5 baby carriers? I have to say that they all serve their purposes. I love my ring sling and my two hotslings, but they just hurt your back after an extended period of time. And the bigger she gets, the worse it gets.

I also like my front/back carrier that i have, but it was more of an inexpensive "test" and it isn't as comfortable as it could be. Since I now know that I use the carriers and that I will wear the baby plenty in the first few years of her life, and hopefully many more kids are to follow her, I see it as an investment and I am excited.

I wore Ardyn in the patterned hotsling when we took Boyd to the Vet in Rockford on Wednesday. It was funny because the girls behind the desk were like "What a neat sling! Do you have a BABY in there?" and later, Evan was like "What did they THINK was in there?" SHe stayed in the sling the whole time. It was nice and made things so much easier. I also take the sling shopping, so if she gets fussy in the stroller I can then walk holding her "hands-free" and continue shopping. I can also feed her a bottle while shopping if I have her in the sling... or nurse, but I don't nurse while Moving in the sling yet... I just haven't done it enough. But I did watch some good videos online last night with tips and tricks on sling wearing and nursing while in the sling.

So, the last thing I wanted to mention is that BOTH vets who have seen Boyd have said that he has the worst tumor they have ever seen growing "there" and it's been estimated at about $200-300 to remove. Right now they have him on some medicine to help with Colitis, and we are planning on scheduling his surgery perhaps after the holidays. I need to get back to work so that we can have the money to do the surgery.

It could be cancerous, but we don't intend to find out. Just remove the tumor with laser surgery to make him comfortable. The biopsy is another $100.

That's all. To bed. Olive oil and all. Promise!

Tuesday Tidbits

Just sitting here catching up on Tivo before bed. Getting kicked every so often. LOL.

Tonight we took a Family and Friends CPR Course, for adult, child and infant CPR. Evan and I haven't had one since high school, me since like 1994 and him since about 1998. They change the CPR curriculum every 5 years, and LOTS has changed since then. We were glad that we went!

Boyd's newest infatuation is with the back of the stove and the heat/ac vent that is on the wall opposite the stove (as in behind it in the other room.) A while ago he saw a mouse come out of the back of the stove, run around the corner and down the large wall/floor vent. He spent that entire night scratching and howling and sniffing at the vent. That was over a month ago. Now every night he stakes out the vent for at least 1-2 hours, and sniffs under and around the back of the stove. It's like he thinks that the stove and the vent are connected to each other (back to back) and that the mice live in there..... although I haven't seen one yet and no evidence. But every night he stakes out the vent and the stove. It's a mixture of funny and totally annoying.

It was so good to be home on Sunday!! As soon as we got home I unpacked and changed into a tank top and shorts. It was 86 degrees! I ended up vacuuming, organizing, and doing laundry. Monday I was off work so I did much of the same, and ran the dishwasher, and then took a nice bath and went to drop off the wool living room rug and my pink peacoat at the cleaners. Then I got some groceries, went to the locker for some pork chops, and came home to a clean house after the cleaning people. It was hard to go back to work today, but we were busy so there was plenty to keep my mind at work.

After lunch I got called in for mandatory "random" drug and alcohol testing, which cracked me up. I haven't had a drop of alcohol since Thanksgiving last year, so I was saying "I had better blow zeros!" and of course I did. I am saving the paperwork and the breathalyser printout and evidence tape for the baby book. "baby's first breathalyser!" LOL.

I wish I had some chocoalte covered strawberries. What I DO Have is a DQ Oreo Blizzard in the freezer.... Mmmmm! I can't believe it's already almost MAY! Monday I was sitting in the nursery in the glider, and I thought to myself, in just 4 months, there will be a living breathing baby in this room! A little person who will live in our house! Everyday! It will be here before we know it!

A Trip to the Vet

I. Am. So. Lazy.

This morning we took the dogs to the vet. Hadley has been having electric yellow urine and frequent accidents in the house, even when he has just been outside. It's like he can't hold it. They decided to do some bloodwork for potential liver or kidney issues, and Hadley had a spot on his leg shaved (although he has short hair as it is) so that the vet could see his vein and draw blood. Hadley didn't like it but It was pretty cool to see the vet do a blood draw. They got their booster shots and new rabies tags for this year. They were so super psyched to be going for a ride this morning... it was funny how much they barked and Hadley "talked" all the way to Walnut.

On the way home they were so exhausted from all the excitement that they just sat or lay down in the back seat, and we had only been at the vet for 30 minutes. LOL.

Although I had showered in the morning, I changed my clothes again because I was covered in dog hair. Evan fed the beasts so I could go to work. Hadley's blood work should be done in about 24 hours so we will know what we are looking at.

This weekend is looking to be a pretty quiet, around home weekend. Probably some cleaning and some dishes and laundry, and hopefully some good sleep and relaxing will happen.
